The Fable of The Lord of MisRule.

Origin: In England, the Lord of Misrule — known in Scotland as the Abbot of Unreason and in France as the Prince des Sots — was an officer appointed by lot at Christmas to preside over the Feast of Fools. The Lord of Misrule was generally a peasant or sub-deacon appointed to be in charge of Christmas revelries, which often included drunkenness and wild partying, in the pagan tradition of Saturnalia.

Legacy of DonJon’s Masquerade of Fools: The first Masquerade of Fools in 2010 at the historic Aristocrat Caravaner Society was well attended by many masked fools. At 2am the first Lord of MisRule would be
anointed. Igor Postrekhin, the poster child for fools worldwide, was the odds on favorite. With beer can goggles and a gut that would make Chicago Bears fans proud, he was slugging loaded shots from Trojan Magnum condoms. It appeared there was no greater fool and he would breeze into the cherished lordship.

But, the party took a auspicious turn when an unknown fool walked in off the street. Simply dressed and without the requisite mask, he proceeded to consume levels of intoxicants beyond any known medical capacity. He danced, sang, and stumbled through several hours of raucous revelry. But clearly, Poster Child Postrekhin was not threatened by this "simple fool". The favorite had been flinging his loaded condoms high into the air landing them on the heads of revelers. Everyone knew he was the biggest fool.

The unknown fool continued his foolish consumption until he passed out in the old Sega Out Run under the steps. He had captured the attention of the crowd, but his foolishness was short lived. Or so they thought. Surprisingly he stumbled from his coma, mounted the deck and jumped into the crowd surfing above the party to wild cheers. He had captured the heart of the revelers and it appeared the unknown fool was back.  The Story Continues Below the Fold

The Poster Child was not phased, his liquid, verbal, and visual assaults on the revelers had made the intended impact. And when the unknown fool fell over in a lawn chair and passed out again, the lordship looked certain to go to Postrekhin. Assuming the unknown fool was down for the count DonJon covered him with the blanket of defeat and left him to sleep it off.

But, yet again the unknown fool rallied to serenade the crowd with a half-strung guitar, wailing at the top of his lungs the old Beatles classic, Fool on the Hill. Condoms rained down as Postrekhin realized he was loosing the interest of the revelers. The unknown fool stumbled and strummed through the crowd singing, "there's no greater fool, than the fool on the hill." The Poster Child was unnerved for the first time is his fool life, demanding to know "who is this simple fool?"

Looking green in the gills, the unknown fool climbed into an old store display case, regurgitated copious amounts of party fluids, and passed out once again. It's said the third time is the charm. DonJon covered the indigent fool in the blanket of defeat again and returned to see the pleased Poster Child standing high above the revelers declaring the lordship his, "I MisRule!" It appeared certain, for no fool had returned from being knocked down three times.

As the anointing hour approached, it looked certain the appointment to the cherished lordship would go to Poster Child Postrekhin. With the unknown fool out of the running, there was no contender that could match his foolishness. But, like that fool phoenix that couldn't stop fucking with the flame, through the tin door and into the courtyard came the unknown fool, hands raised giving the double finger to the stunned revelers. A slack jawed Poster Child dropped to his knees and stated, "Your Lordship, The Unknown Fool."

The Unknown Fool was anointed the first Lord of MisRule, and then, without a word, disappeared into the darkness of the night. No one knows who this Unknown Fool was, but, because of him, fools everywhere can be proud to be fools.

Igor "Poster Child" Postrekhin went on to be anointed The Lord of MisRule in 2011 and the Masquerade of Fools is a tradition for the ages.
